Sues
passion as a textile artist is driven by her love
of the textiles themselves and the limitless ways
that they can be combined with other materials.
Traditional techniques and knowledge provide the
backbone of her work but the innovative way the
skills are used allows her to produce a
contemporary result.Texture always features
predominantly in her work, in part inspired by
her interest in worn and decayed works of art,
particularly fragments of architecture and
carvings. Creatively, Sue is particularly excited
with the manipulative properties of textiles,
working with greatly contrasting materials to
produce sculptural forms.
Sues training
is by way of City & Guilds courses, for which
her work was nominated for an Award of
Excellence. She has previously taught textile art
courses in Suffolk, only recently cutting back on
this commitment to devote more time to making and
exhibiting her own work.
She is an active
and exhibiting member of the Suffolk Craft
Society and sells her work through the society
and galleries.
