Nature's Own
Anthriscus Silvestrus is my most recent example of my interest in transferring the constant change of nature to the more permanence of textiles. Using natural dyes I gradually created the dramatic winter sky. With carefully dyed threads using seasonal plant dyes, I worked on the composition, finally incorporating the three dimensional seeds to add a delicate contrast.

Herbarium Liber - This three dimensional element is followed through into the books which each have a story to tell.

Papaver Rhoeas recalls the horror of World War 1, our written records and our commemoration services. We each have personal memories kept alive through family reminiscing.

Taraxacum Oficinale holds memories of childhood and telling the time, along with other folklore tales associated with this sunshine yellow weed, the dandelion.

Eryngium Maritimum epitomizes Miss Willmott and her infamous sprinkling of the seeds in other peoples’ gardens. Her former Essex home of Warley Place no longer exists but her ghost lives on wherever she spread her seeds.
